Main Responsibilities of Social and Welfare Officer

  • Organise and run regular internal social events including, but not limited to Sports Nights and the Novice Social.

  • Maintain and be aware of the overall wellbeing of the Club; be responsible for informing other committee members if actions need to be taken.

  • Arrange for new novices to be placed in families, organise family events and ensure the scheme is running correctly with assistance from Novice Captain when needed.

  • Attend any mental health or wellbeing workshops and seminars offered by Club Development.

Joint Responsibilities with the Social and Events Officer

  • Summer social will be run jointly by the Events and Welfare Officers so both can gain early experience running a larger social.

  • Both officers will be responsible for liaising with the Bristol Pear to collect sponsorship.

  • Welfare and Events Officers will share responsibilities when needed, to ensure club wellbeing and event frequency are maintained to a high standard.

  • Both officers will be responsible for organising the UBAC Tour at the end of the year with the assistance of a Tour committee if they choose

  • Where possible, one officer should be present at every social, however, if neither can attend then there must be clear delegation (Sports Nights do not always have to be run by a Social Officer).

  • The Social Officers should make it clear who oversees each social and should inform the committee of this or, in the case of them delegating, who is running it.

  • The Social Officers should meet regularly (every six weeks) to decide on what socials they want to run and who will be responsible for them.
